Setting up a successful music career as an independent artist can be challenging but it is also very rewarding. Nowadays with digital platforms and online music streaming services it has become easier to distribute music. Now you have more opportunities to gain recognition in the music industry and connect your Music to the global audience.
Here are the steps to follow to start a successful music career as an independent artist:
1. Build your skills as a recording and performing artist.

3. Start sharing and promoting your music.
Now that you have your finished music file, you need to get it to the masses. Create your artist profile on social media platforms for example you can create your own Facebook page and YouTube channel where people can follow and interact with you. This is how you start to grow your audience.

4. Understand music distribution and licensing.
Look out for music distribution platforms that will make your music available on online streaming services like Spotify, Tidal and apple Music. Form partnerships with music publishing companies that can provide promotional services and music licensing opportunities for your music.

5. Network with Industry professionals.
Reach out to managers, promoters and agents they will help you get your music heard by more people and get more gigs.

There are various ways to earn money from your music such as music streaming platforms, selling your merch and live performances. Once your music has already been distributed you will earn through royalties.
